Welcome to the Diverse Coat Society (DCS)! The DCS is a society of diverse educators and healthcare professionals coming together to provide conversations, activities, and support for interprofessional goals leading to educational equity, health equity, and general public safety. At the DCS, we are passionate about our mission, vision, purpose, and goals. Thus, the DCS engages in scholarly activities focused on improving educational equity and health equity.
The Scholarship Faction expands engagement in equity-based scholarly activities for interprofessional educators and healthcare professionals. This faction also offers annual scholarships to nurses and healthcare professionals to support educational needs. The scholarships are designed for student success.

Apply for a Diverse Coat Society Scholarship
Experience the Diverse Coat Society Effect
The DCS is encouraging students to apply for the DCS Scholarship. The scholarship is offered annually for students to assist in supporting their educational trajectory and successful completion of their program of study. Due to the current nursing shortage, the DCS opted to offer scholarships to nursing students this year. The scholarship application process opens July 1, 2025, and closes on October 31, 2025. Experience the DCS Effect today by applying for a scholarship! Scholarship recipients will also receive a 1-year free membership with the DCS.

Scholarship Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in a nursing program (second semester or greater)
- No GPA requirements
- Underrepresented background
- Demonstrates community service
- Demonstrates leadership qualities
Required Documentation
- Professional Headshot (optional)
- Transcript
- Two letters of recommendation - one must be from nursing school faculty/instructor
- Resume or Curriculum Vitae
Essay
Write a 250-word statement on the following topic.
Discuss how you will use your nursing career to help underserved populations and communities.

Community Health
A major faction of the Diverse Coat Society is Community Health. Through this faction, the Diverse Coat Society is committed to providing services for diverse, underserved populations and communities. The overarching goal of the Community Health faction is to help persons, families, groups, organizations, and communities find the necessary equitable educational and healthcare services to be successful in their endeavors to reach a healthier and brighter future. Ultimately, we envision moving closer to educational equity and health equity and improving outcomes. The Community Health Faction entails the following.

Grant
The Grant Faction consists of Diverse Coat Society members committed to procuring grant funding. Collaboration is a key responsiblity of the faction. Research
The Research Faction provides inquiry-based strategies for reaching educational equity and health equity. This faction is responsible for the following:
- Researching issues impacting educational equity and health equity
- Synthesizing resources to develop, implement, and evaluate solutions for educational and health equity
- Conducting interprofessional, educational equity, and health equity research
- Using evidence-based strategies to reach educational equity and health equity
- Increasing visibility of research in nursing and healthcare.
